SMARTARCH

TWO WIRES
INSTEAD OF FOUR

Introducing SmartArch™, designed to allow clinicians to move into a finishing wire after just two archwires.

The Science Behind SmartArch™

A patented, pulsating laser program SmartArch is to deliver forces closely matching Drs. Viecilli and Burstone’s established ideals. By applying ideal forces SmartArch promotes efficient tooth movement and may reduce overall treatment time.

Fewer wire Changes.
Ideal Force for Each Tooth.

Efficient Molar Engagement

Designed to engage molars with the 1st archwire and provide more efficient molar alignment.

7 Distinct Force Zones

Programmed to deliver the ideal force to each individual tooth and equalize pressure along the PDL.

Reduced Friction

Laser processing reduces friction between wire and bracket surfaces, promoting overall treatment efficiency.

Less Wire Disengagement

Increased posterior stiffness designed to reduce likelihood of disengagement from buccal tubes and may reduce associated emergency appointments.

Computer Engineered

Engineered using finite-element-analysis, the SmartArch design accounts for variations in inter-bracket distance, root size, and the root-to-crown relationship.

Drs. Viecilli and Burstone’s Ideal Forces

Drs. Viecilli and Burstone utilized Finite-Element-Analysis (FEA) to establish the ideal force load for each individual tooth.

SmartArch Multi-Force Superelastic Archwires: A New Paradigm in Orthodontic Treatment Efficiency

The conventional wire progression—stepping through multiple rounds of progressively greater size and force—results in forces that overpower some teeth and underpower others. The value of this wire technology lies in its capacity to apply physiologically appropriate forces to each individual tooth, thereby minimizing the formation of avascular necrotic tissue and shortening the lag phase. In each case shown here, SmartArch treatment appeared to minimize the lag phase, making coordinated tooth movement more efficient and leading to an estimated 50% savings in leveling and alignment time.

SmartArch 4

12-Year-Old Patient with Class II Deep Bite Malocclusion

The significant observation in her case is how efficiently the bite was opened in 90 days with one continuous archwire. Smart-Arch delivered gentle and continuous forces that were preferred for optimal tooth movement and patient comfort.

SmartArch 5

12-Year-Old Patient with Severe Crowding

Significant changes had occurred 180 days after initial archwire placement and two archwires (Figures 11 and 12).
