What Is Spark Approver Software?
Ormco’s proprietary Spark™ 3D orthodontics software is designed to enhance treatment with Spark Clear Aligners by giving orthodontists greater control over their patients’ smile enhancements.

With the Spark Approver Software, clinicians can specify several initial setups, manipulate occlusion and the patient’s dentition, and add customizable features for Spark Aligners.
The software provides full control of hook and button placement on a patient’s arch. Orthodontists can also freely place cutouts on both labial and lingual tooth surfaces.

Detailed Planning
The case approval software also allows for thorough orthodontic treatment planning, including enabling orthodontists to request and simultaneously compare several treatment plans. Comparing multiple plans through Spark Approver Software ensures a continuous process leading to a refined patient smile.
Seamless Monitoring
Doctors can also download stereolithography, or STL files containing images of their patients’ teeth during each treatment stage. These files can help orthodontists ensure that their patients’ clear aligners are designed and manufactured accurately, monitor treatment, and make adjustments as needed.
CBCT Integration
Spark Approver Software enables the importing of patients’ CBCT data—digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) files—directly into the Spark software.
Orthodontists do not have to worry about delays during this step, as they can keep working on their prescription forms while the files are uploaded. They can then visualize these files and submit them to Spark designers to verify that the patient tooth roots displayed in the software match those in their DICOM files.
Integration of Platforms

A key feature of Spark Approver Software is its integration with the open platform DEXIS™ IOS ScanFlow. Orthodontists can use the solution to do the following:
- Automatically create cases on Ormco’s Spark™ DTX Portal
- Rapidly and easily submit cases with their preferred providers with single-click patient data captures
- Quickly access STL files.
Scans, photos, x-rays (including panoramic x-rays), and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images can be added directly to the aligner portal using the portal’s “DTX Collaborate” feature. Alternatively, orthodontists can instantly send these media to the Spark DTX Portal from Envista’s DEXIS IOS ScanFlow software.
Each CBCT scan automatically aligns with the software’s 3D model. The software comes with the following CBCT presets to aid in orthodontic treatment planning: bone and soft tissue, translucent skin, and skin.
These presets provide clinicians with more accurate and detailed imaging options. Enhanced visualization of various anatomical features through these imaging options can lead to more precise orthodontic therapy planning for better patient outcomes.
Cortical Bone Imaging Feature

The Cortical Bone imaging feature is a more flexible, simplified version of the existing CBCT suite of features. With the Cortical Bone imaging feature, Spark doctors do not have to wait for the DICOM import to diagnose the case. You can now view the cortical bone image and start working on your Spark Aligners case immediately.
In addition, Spark Approver Desktop can integrate both the CBCT and Cortical Bone features for enhanced image analysis functionalities.

Using the program’s root visualization feature, orthodontists can predict and avoid collisions through the solution’s collision warning system.
